Meet Matt Hayes, owner of Lazy Dog Outfitters.
Growing up on the St. Lawrence River in upstate NY, Matt's initial love for the outdoors was ignited by fishing for smallmouth bass. After relocating to Statesville, NC, he discovered a passion for fly fishing in high school, which quickly became his primary pursuit. While Matt competed in tournament bass fishing for many years, he now dedicates his time entirely to trout fishing in Western North Carolina. He has guided for fly shops in Bryson City and spends his days exploring the scenic beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP), Cherokee, and the Tuckaseegee River.
Matt and his wife, Tiffany, are a dedicated fishing team (they believe those who fish together stay together!). Their late dog, Frank, was the namesake for Lazy Dog Outfitters. To continue Frank's legacy, the Hayes family actively supports dog rescues in the Charlotte area.
